Debate: End Welfare in 100 Days [Live Free and Debate Series]

December 28, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Should the false-promise policy of government-coerced “welfare”, which both debaters agree is an abomination, be removed quickly, or slowly? The perennial libertarian debate over how to move from an authoritarian society to a freed society is joined at The SHELL.

Resolution: “As an implementation strategy, all social welfare and spending programs should be ended within 100 days, rather than over years.”

Affirmative:
Scott Forte is a pilot, real estate developer, entrepreneur, and freedom enthusiast.

Negative:
D. S. Dexter Tarbox Jr. is an advertising and marketing specialist based in the Seacoast of New Hampshire.

Details: As long as liberty lovers have envisioned a non-coercive, voluntary society, the question has been how to extricate ourselves from the tentacles of authoritarianism, which invades every aspect of our lives today.

The core debate revolves around whether it must be:
1) Quickly
2) Slowly

Live Free and Debate series takes this topic on, in probably the hardest area for the “Quickly” camp to defend — social welfare.

Resolution: “As an implementation strategy, all social welfare and spending programs should be ended within 100 days, rather than over years.”

Affirmative: Scott Forte is a pilot, real estate developer, entrepreneur, and freedom enthusiast.

Scott graduated from the “”Harvard of the Sky”” Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University where he earned an undergraduate in aeronautical science, with minors in both business and law. He went on to earn an MBA with a specialization in finance.

After flying private jets and selling charter on a fleet of Falcon 900’s & BBJs, Scott transitioned into real-estate sales & real-estate development. He has used his array skills to help start multiple tech companies.

Freedom, competition, and meritocracy are political ideals Scott stands for.

Negative: D. S. Dexter Tarbox, Jr., is an advertising and marketing specialist based in the Seacoast of New Hampshire. A lifelong resident of New England, he has been active in local civic and charitable organizations (including a term on the City of Dover Planning Board), and as an occasional commentator on political issues of both local and national interest.

Tarbox has worked to launch and scale enterprises in industries including social communications, healthcare, consumer retail, and marketing; with a particular emphasis on seed-stage and series-A ventures. He is a political conservative.
