Employer Vaccine Mandates {Live Free & Debate Forum}

January 26, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Please join Live Free & Debate Forum as we tackle the intersecting thorny issues of initiating government violence, of requiring vaccines for employment, and of melding government and business.

Resolution: “”Given our current authoritarian system, libertarians are justified using government force to prohibit private businesses from mandating CoVid vaccinations as a term of employment.””

Affirmative: Alu Axelman, founder of LibertyBlock.Com, and publisher of hundreds of articles and three books.

Negative: Dan Rothschild, graduate school in economics, with a specialization in civil asset forfeiture and author of peer reviewed articles

We gather at 6:30 to meet, discuss, and vote, and the debate starts at 7:00.

Details: Sure, libertarian ethics is pretty clear about rulers using their police to forcibly hold you down and inject unwanted substances into your body, and some libertarian consequentialists equivocate. (See the recent SoHo Forum debate.)

But what about the converse? What are the libertarian ethical and consequential arguments around using government violence against the owners of a private business who require their employees to take the CoVid vaccination as a term of employment? What if the private business is in bed with the rulers?

Resolution: “”Given our current authoritarian system, libertarians are justified using government force to prohibit private businesses from mandating CoVid vaccinations as a term of employment.””

For the Affirmative, Alu Axelman is a loud pro-freedom and pro-independence voice. He founded LibertyBlock.Com and moved to New Hampshire in late 2017. Today, LibertyBlock.Com is the #2 most visited NH website. His articles, videos, podcasts, and three books have reached millions of readers and listeners. Alu is a critical care/flight paramedic, FTO, adjunct EMS instructor, and has worked in EMS since 2011. Alu identifies as a voluntaryist. He debated NH secession last year at his debut Live Free & Debate Forum.

For the Negative, Daniel Rothschild wants us to know that, objectively, he is one of the smartest, humblest, funniest, and sexiest persons on earth, and our debate forum is clearly fortunate to enjoy his brilliant insights. Daniel studied economics (civil asset forfeiture) in graduate school, authoring peer-reviewed articles with Walter Block. In his free time, Daniel likes to watch movies, play games, debate, and touch (consenting) pretty women. He is also a frequent star at The SHELL’s monthly open-mic comedy nights. This is his first formal debate, but he regularly argues on social media platforms.

The Live Free & Debate Forum is a monthly program designed to build Free State debating capabilities. It picks tough topics, finds courageous, often first-time, debaters, and follows formal Oxford debate rules (15m open; 7m rebuttal; 7m conclusion).

You, the audience, are a key part of the Forum: encouraging the debaters; asking probing questions; voting the winner; and volunteering for the next debate.

This Forum is a sibling of the monthly SoHo Forum, a more professional debate series taking place in New York City, which is often simulcast at The SHELL.
