Windjammer Cruise to Acadia National Park

August 15, 2022 @ 3:00 pm - August 21, 2022 @ 12:00 pm

—–

Update: We are a quarter full after less than a day.
We also have a female looking for a berth-mate — preferred female but willing to negotiate.

——

One of the benefits of living in New Hampshire is taking advantage of the Maine tall ships. They sail a short season, and are always sold out, so we have to act fast if we’re going.

And we’re going.

We picked one of the nicest schooners (which Carol and I loved last year), and have secured a block of cabins — but only with enough time to allow you to decide:

You have less than one week. So, get off the “head” and jump onto this adventure with us.

Details: Join your porcupine friends as we board the double-masted, windjammer schooner Heritage to sail past fishing villages and through hidden passages to Mount Desert Island, with its gorgeous landscapes of granite mountains, evergreen forests, picturesque lakes, and a saltwater sound that cuts straight through the island. We will anchor and hop on a bus to tour Acadia National Park, visiting thunder hole, the top of Cadillac Mountain, and numerous other scenic spots around the park.

Besides our one day visit to Acadia, Sean and Ben will captain the vessel with a priority on sailingl. They entertain us with live music one evening. The food is delicious with restaurant quality dishes made with fresh local ingredients. Breads, cookies, and desserts are all daily baked aboard.

Sure, we’ll share our journeys to freedom and discuss the emerging free state, but we’ll also enjoy an all-you-can-eat lobster cookout on a pristine island beach. We’ll hear about the islands, vessels and people of the area as well as the many lighthouses we see. Wildlife abounds with birds both ashore and at sea as well as marine mammals. The schooner was built inteionallhy — with the passenger’s comfort in mind. (Mind you, it’s still largely “camping on the ocean”!)

The company is holding berths for us-only until Mar 17th, so if you’re interested, don’t let this opportunity pass you by! Sign up now. (If you’re reading this after that date, call immediately as they may still have spots.)

(The company requires children to be age 12 or over.)
