Big Tech & Small Minds: How Elites Use Technology to Exert Control
[The SHELL, Rollinsford]
______

Jeremy Kauffman of LBRY will discuss how big tech, financial companies, and NGOs form a complex that controls media and the market, short circuiting intellectual enquiry and controlling the narrative.

How can intellectuals and liberty lovers to escape this mind control?

Details: Liberty concerns around speech have traditionally centered on governmental action, but what happens when the professional-managerial class uses corporate power to control the sphere of allowable opinion and to capture political power?

Big tech, financial companies, and NGOs are seemingly independent entities, but together they form a complex that short circuits intellectual enquiry and controls the narrative. Via market control and media domination, these groups are a threat to liberty and to free expression itself.

Jeremy Kauffman, CEO of LBRY, will give a short overview of this emerging threat, explaining how the machine works with clear details and examples. He’ll also discuss the various options -- both immediate and on the horizon -- for intellectuals and liberty lovers to escape this mind control.

We will then break into discussion groups to explore with each other various aspects of this big liberty idea, returning to the large group to share our ideas, questions, criticisms, applications, and hopes with our speaker.

BYOB before, during, and after.
